About
A clear map for players and collectors
GameTimeline.org organizes console history and major game franchises into readable timelines — when hardware shipped, when games released, and how storylines connect when that matters for play order.
What we publish
Each topic lives on one page. Console timelines focus on US launch dates and hardware generations. Game series pages separate release order (what shipped when) from story order (in-universe chronology or official branches) when both views help players. Remakes, expansions, and optional side titles are labeled so you can skip them without losing the main thread.
Editorial standards
Lists are checked against primary release information and widely accepted story ordering. Where publishers leave dates open or fans disagree, we say so on the page rather than forcing a single answer. Every timeline shows a last-reviewed date at the bottom.
Updates
Pages are revised when major consoles launch or when a franchise adds a mainline entry, remake, or expansion that changes recommended play order. The home page lists every available timeline as new topics are added.
